Automatic Pump-Out of Contaminants
The SK-6000 is a portable solvent recovery system which features rugged, stainless steel construction. Its state-of-the-art design provides the ability to process waste solvents ranging from 20-gallon batches to 55-gallons in a continuous, closed-loop operation. With the optional continuous flow system, waste solvent can be automatically fed from a 55-gallon drum...through the unit's distillation tank...to a clean solvent recovery tank.
Efficient Distillation of Waste Solvent
The SK-6000 is designed to provide efficient distillation and recovery of waste solvent. The system heats a solvent to its boiling point, causing the solvent to evaporate and separate from the contaminants. As solvent vapors pass through a water-cooled condenser, they are condensed into clean, reusable solvent.
To facilitate uniform solvent heating and reduce the amount of time required for distillation, the SK-6000 uses a convective heat transfer principle. The unit's processing tank is seated inside a heating tank filled with a specially formulated non-coking heat transfer oil. The oil is heated by a 6 KW, low watt density multi-element heater.
The SK-6000's efficient design reduces energy consumption, helps maintain a more consistent and uniform temperature throughout the processing tank, and increases the distillation rate.
Easy to Operate
The SK-6000 was designed with the inexperienced user in mind. To operate the system, a user simply selects the proper processing temperature and pushes the start button. Once the unit is initiated, no further operator attendance is necessary. Operators can be trained in less than 15 minutes.
Designed for Safety
Explosion proof electrical housings and intrinsically safe low-voltage solid state circuit boards make the SK-6000 safe for use in hazardous environments.
The SK-6000 meets the requirements of: Class 1, Division 1, Group D; NFPA 483 (USA); Zone 1, Gas Group I; B55345 (United Kingdom); C22.2.157 (Canada); and BS5501 (CENELEC).
Quick Installation
Designed to offer both portability and quick installation, the SK-6000 can be used just about anywhere that power and water are available.
A 25' electrical cable ready for a three-prong twist disconnect plug is provided with the unit. Water inlet and outlet lines are connected using rubber hose similar to that used for a washing machine.
The SK-6000 features heavy-duty castors which make the unit easy to move around a facility. It can be maneuvered on rough floors as well as up ramps. The system does not depend on a dust free environment nor require a level surface for operation.
Multi-Zone LCD Temperature Display
The SK-6000 is the only solvent recovery system that enables a user to check the temperature of the heating oil, solvent vapors, and coolant at any time during a distillation. By simply pressing a button on the unit's control panel, the user is able to obtain real-time data.
Continuous Feed Operation
Using an optional closed-loop continuous flow system, the SK-6000 is able to automatically feed waste solvent into the distillation tank, then into a 55-gallon clean solvent recovery tank. A pneumatic logic system — rather than an electrical system — is used to automatically control the liquid level and the delivery of waste solvent to the processing tank. As liquid solvent is converted to vapor, the system automatically feeds additional solvent from the waste solvent drum into the processing tank.
Vacuum Assist System
An optional vacuum assist system, with pneumatic logic, enables distillations to be conducted at below atmospheric pressure. Processing under vacuum reduces the processing temperature by as much as 100°F, permitting the safe distillation of solvents with boiling points of up to 500°F. A lower processing temperature also reduces the amount of time and energy required for distillation.
The SK-6000 offers up to 27" Hg of vacuum, enabling a company to process a much wider range of solvents and conduct more efficient distillations with less energy consumption.
Automatic Removal of Still Bottom
An auto pump-out option available from Solvent Kleene allows automatic removal of any hot liquid contaminants left in the processing tank after solvent separation. With this option, it is possible to process 150 gallons of solvent every 36 hours without any contact or exposure to spent solvent or liquid contaminants.
